"The world is teetering on the edge of Sanity's Bluff."

Would you please look carefully at this picture I composed, and try to think what you would be praying for if you were the same age. When I was a child the age of these children, way back in the 1950's I remember praying that the Russians would not drop an atomic bomb on my school or home. Wake up world, you are scaring the children.
STOP, LOOK AND DO SOMETHING…I AM SHOCKED THAT IN THIS TIME OF PERIL FOR THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD….GROWN MEN & WOMEN ARE SPENDING TIME TRYING TO EMBARRASS OR EVEN IMPEACH PRESIDENT BUSH, AND GET RID OF KARL ROVE, RATHER THAN WORKING TO FIGHT TERRORISM.
PLEASE GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT. ARGUING, BICKERING AND NAME CALLING DOES NOTHING TO STOP TERRORISM.
GROW UP AND SERVE YOUR COUNTRY NOT YOUR OWN SELFISH INTERESTS.

WORRY MORE ABOUT THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD
THAN HOW TO 'GET BUSH'.

BE A MAN, BE A WOMAN WHO PUTS COUNTRY FIRST.
CAN’T WE WORK TOGETHER TO SAFEGUARD THE FUTURE
FOR THE WORLD’S CHILDREN?

WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT, POLITICAL POINTS, OR RIDDING THE WORLD OF TERRORISM?
IF YOU LET THESE CHILDREN DOWN, SHAME ON YOU, WE THE GROWN UPS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN MAKE THIS WORLD SAFE FOR THEM. ARE YOU READY TO ACT LIKE A MAN, OR WOMAN?

I orginally posted this July 23, 2005. I got all choked up again when I revisited these thoughts, knowing that there may not be anything anyone can do to save humanity. It is time for everyone to lift prayers to the Creator of All. God did not create sin, hate or death, Mankind did that. Let us all pray for God's patience, because it is getting close to the end.

Except for the fact that it is our political leaders who lead the charge against terrorism, and therefore must be held as accountable, forthright, and trustworthy, I would agree with your point.

But the only way for ordinary people to fight terrorism is through their governments, and through insisting that their governments take appropriate steps to help win the war.

Therefore, legitimate beefs with political administrations, like "Why isn't the border secure" and "What did you spend all that money on, if not the weaponry and troops?" are valid efforts of citizens to fight terror.

Great post! I'm totally with you!

Yes Ken it is supposed to be our political leaders...that lead. They obviously aren't. I give no one a pass on the failure to make our world safe, from President Bush clear on down to the lowest of lowest at the CIA. Our marvelous warriors are battling terrorist every day, but not much is being done here. For some insane reason, no one in Washington sees anything wrong with wide open borders. I hate to imagine what would have occured in the USA, if we had not went to war. Funny thing about war, politicians are no good at it. Terror needs to be fought, without kid gloves. I get sick when I hear the media refusing to call a terrorist a terrorist. For the most part our government doesn't give a darn about the citizens. Again from Bush on down.......they care only for their own careers, and circle of influence. I could name you 4 or 5 times in the last election cycle that States tried to do something about a problem and went to the ballot box and passed a law, only to have the Courts throw it out. We could combine the Legislative, Judical and Executive Branches of our government into one branch....No one in politics cares about the people or their safety anymore. If like Bin laden has bragged, our cities are hit with nuclear bombs, the politicans will survive, they have bomb shelters and places to go wait it out. We don't. All they want from us is our sweat and blood.

Sorry for all the rants....I am so disturbed....

I am off to join the wide-awakes.

Superman, after visiting your website, I consider a vulgar uneducated comment by you, an indication that I am doing just fine. I would hate for you to agree with anything here, it is above your level of understanding. I won't be visiting the gutteral website of yours again either.

I agree we need less bickering and more effort against terror. But why isn't some of your fury directed at Rove? He's a traitor who jeopardized our war effort and national security just to get even with an agent who wouldn't toe the line. I'm sure they'll come up with a technicality to keep him from being convicted -- I haven't seen so many sentences being diagrammed and phrases being parsed since 7th grade English class.

But he jeopardized national security and a CIA agent's life just for the sake of political payback. "I didn't mention her name." Puhlease!

The best thing to do is to wait and see. USA Today had an interesting piece today. It seems Valerie Plame may not have been an "operative" at all. This is based on Joe Wilson's book:

"The alleged crime at the heart of a controversy that has consumed official Washington — the "outing" of a CIA officer — may not have been a crime at all under federal law, little-noticed details in a book by the agent's husband suggest."

"In The Politics of Truth, former ambassador Joseph Wilson writes that he and his future wife both returned from overseas assignments in June 1997. Neither spouse, a reading of the book indicates, was again stationed overseas. They appear to have remained in Washington, D.C., where they married and became parents of twins. "

"Six years later, in July 2003, the name of the CIA officer — Valerie Plame — was revealed by columnist Robert Novak.

The column's date is important because the law against unmasking the identities of U.S. spies says a "covert agent" must have been on an overseas assignment "within the last five years." The assignment also must be long-term, not a short trip or temporary post, two experts on the law say. Wilson's book makes numerous references to the couple's life in Washington over the six years up to July 2003.

"Unless she was really stationed abroad sometime after their marriage," she wasn't a covert agent protected by the law, says Bruce Sanford, an attorney who helped write the 1982 act that protects covert agents' identities."

I'm a Democrat and I have questions, but I prefer leaving the investigation to the special counsel. For those who don't I suppose there's editorial lynching, a la Bill Clinton and Vince Foster. that type of thinking is ignorant when it comes from the right wing. It's no less ignorant when it comes from the left.

Were your 'priorities straight' when the Clintons were being hounded for irrelevant nonsense and made up bullshit? There were terrorists running around then too, and children starving, etc... but I'm guessing you weren't saying "Dammit, you Conservatives need to fall in line with President and stop hounding him!" I'm just guessing here, but I'll guess your priorities weren't straight. But, hey, take comfort in the fact that the kids in Iraq who were killed, or parents were killed, or had their homes destroyed in an unconscionable war based on lies really appreciate you using the plight of children as a smoke and mirrors act to protect your Sainted Leaders from criticism.

It must be miserable for a communist or islamafacist like you in America. My advice, Move, and take all the other whiners with you.
Sick and tired of you unpatriotic complainers. If America had been populated by cowards like you in the 40's, we would be speaking German. Evil needs to be confronted. You won't do it, but you love living with the results of someone elses sacrifice. Ungrateful.

Blogger iratesavant said...

I wholeheartedly agree with your post, and I find your use of bold and all capital letters most apropos. Politics and war are dirty businesses indeed, and one cannot make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Anything Mr. Rove does is in the service of Our Infallible Leader, the King of Freedom, and thus Good. And even what he did proves to be less than righteous, well, Ted Kennedy was a drunkard, and Bill Clinton received beaners in the Oval Office, so there.

Didn't terroism in the world increase several thousand percent since duhhbya started fighting terrorism?

Seems to me that if we really were serious about combating terrorism we would get somebody that had a clue what they were doing instead of blaming the particular political party that is not in power for this administration's daily, and deadly, screwups.

Blogger web_loafer said...

Let's see, in the early 1990's terrorists tried to bring the WTC down. They failed, but planned for years and years until they got it right. I am not going to blame anyone but the terrorist for terror. And just because you don't like the current president, why blame him for an attack planned long ago?
Instead of bickering amongst each other, we should be united in trying to put an end to the terror planned for us. If we don't unite we are sitting ducks. I feel like I am wasting words with you. Your hyperbole amazes me, but hey you are welcome to show your prejudice here. I just wish you would become a little concerned about the division in this country that is playing right into our enemies hands. We have enemies that want all of us dead. How that can be increased is beyond me. I guess since G.W. has been in office, the radical muslims now want to kill each of us a thousand percent more. I only have one life and don't feel like trusting it to someone afraid to see the problem, those that blame us for the problem, or those too cowardly to attempt to correct the problem.

Sadly the children are starving and dying not because of terrorism but because of the rules of trade or not that have been placed onto some of these countries by the world powers; the US being one of the main powers.

I am not sure how much time you have spent in Europe or if you even care to know the real facts but hunger , death starvation in the world has very little to do with terrorism except for the abject terrorism we have allowed in ignoring genocide.
The real facts on poverty are not what you see.
Please DO Not delude yourself that the US government, under any recent administration has done anything that would really allow these countries to get to the point where their children would not be starving or without proper medical care.
And sorry Karl Rove is brilliant but he is totally unethical, he is the pot that calls the other kettles black.

I now understand your fear, it was put there by your country when you were a kid. God, I would hate my country for doing that to me.

I feel sorry for you and all like minded people. It's clearly not your fault.

Thanks for introducing me to a fellow thinker, superman

This is a great post web-loafer. I linked to it from Blue Star Chronicles.

Superman - what a clever come-back (rolling eyes). I lost count of how many times you used 'retard'. E-x-p-a-n-d your vocabulary. (Vocabulary means the amound of words you know and use).

One thing that bothers me is that I see people on the right much more concerned with healing the divide in the nation. I see so much divisiveness from the left.

Mark,

I live in America and still have a hard time understand why the uber-left progressives are so afraid.

But they certainly do seem that way don't they.

It's frieghtening to admit to the danger in the world.

Jay,

You may not be aware, but there were numerous terrorist attacks against U.S. and other western intersts during the 90s (Clinton years). But they were either ignored or answered weakly.

The fact that we spent at a minimum of 10 years ignoring a problem while it grew bigger and bigger until we couldn't ignore it anymore does not mean the problem wasn't there.

We even ignored an attack on our soldiers in Somalia (Black Hawk Down) and U.S.S. Cole.

Avoiding conflict creates unavoidable conflict.

I'm so glad we have an administration now that will not ignore it while we are all killed. At least they know we will answer their attacks.

HERE GOES, The comment

Recognizing the countless women serving their nation in the war on terror (who you claim to support) I, am shocked that you would use gender as an insult in what is otherwise a sincere and heartfelt post. Asking Americans "ARE YOU READY TO ACT LIKE A MAN, OR WOMAN?" is sick; particularly when it comes directly below a post about one Coretta Scott King, a woman easily more courageous than most men.
Ask Mrs. King whether she's going to "act like a man or a woman". Ask the women volunteering to serve their country in the same capacity as men. You claim to respect these women. Please do not demean their courage by using their gender as a bigoted slur.

More lefty loons posting about those poor peaceful muslims. What a load of crap. People like that are the reason that our nation is so divided. They let their emotions rule their decision making process. The truth has nothing to do with what they believe. Sad and pathetic. Great post web_loafer.
